Program Counselors
Our caring staff of youth development professionals keep kids engaged in positive, character-building activities that invest in their success and mentor them to achieve to their full potential. We ensure that each Program Counselor is trained in youth development best practices, is first aid and CPR certified, and is background checked and fingerprinted prior to hiring. In fact, many of our program counselors have been with us for many years, and were actually club members before becoming staff members! They earned paid Program Counselor positions with us by demonstrating good work ethics and good character proven during their tenure in our youth leadership programs while they were members. It’s inspiring to realize that we positively influence the lives of our members in ways that shape their career choices and their futures!
Parent / Child Tournaments
We like to create opportunities for families to spend quality time interacting in positive activities together with fun parent/child tournaments held right here at the Club. Tournaments are held in the evening hours and are always filled with laughter and memorable moments for our young members and their families to take home with them. From air hockey to foosball, parents team up with their children to compete against other family teams. Food and drinks are served, and every participant wins a prize, with an extra special gift for the winners! Please check for dates of upcoming Parent / Child Tournaments for a great night of free family fun!
Berylwood, Parkview & Santa Susana Elementary Students: ASES After School Education and Safety Program
In February of 2007, the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley, in collaboration with the Simi Valley Unified School District and the California Department of Education, expanded our after-school programming to provide free after-school care, transportation, homework help, and one-on-one tutoring to 168 children at Simi’s two Title 1 schools, Parkview Elementary and Berylwood Elementary. Our caring staff of accredited counselors engage children in academic improvement activities during the after school hours to help them create brighter futures for themselves. This program has been very successful and has been expanded each year since its inception three years ago.
